Our music program provides kids through adults the opportunity to be who they are and express themselves with a creative outlet.

OUR MISSION
Plugged In is a non-profit music program committed to creating an inclusive, loving, and diverse community empowered to change the world. We educate musicians in a non-competitive environment, and provide band and individual performance opportunities in support of community and charitable causes.
ACCESS FOR ALL
Inclusion
Plugged In is inclusive in all ways and we respect and celebrate our differences. Regardless of age, gender, technical skill level, or disability, there is a place for you in the Plugged In community.
Scholarship
In 22 years, Plugged In has NEVER turned away a student for an inability to pay. Our robust scholarship program is supported by generous donations from our community and grant givers. Scholarship can be applied to any program piece and tuition fees will never be a barrier to participation.
Card to Culture
We are proud to participate in Mass Cultural Council's Card to Culture program in collaboration with the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Department of Public Health's WIC Nutrition Program, the Massachusetts Health Connector, and hundreds of organizations by making cultural programming accessible to those for whom cost is a participation barrier.
EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare cardholders can receive a partial (minimum 50% discount) or full scholarship on all program pieces, including private lessons, band class, and summer camp. See the complete list of participating organizations offering EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare discounts.

OUR IMPACT
An inclusive community that rocks the world
At 11 years old, I had music in my heart, and I wanted that music to reach people. Plugged In was the perfect opportunity for me. The program allowed me to express myself, and channeled my energy towards good causes at every benefit concert.
I learned so much about those causes and the social issues behind them, about music, about working creatively as part of a team, and about myself. Plugged In showed me my own voice. I joined up as a vocalist and keyboard player, and ended up dabbling in guitar.
At 14, I had written ten original songs (some of which touched on war, genocide, and gay rights) and recorded them in a studio recommended by Tom and Sandra. I overcame stage fright, and found I could talk spontaneously and perform in front of large groups of people. I became a much more outgoing person, comfortable with myself, and confident in myself.
Now, I’m a sophomore at Smith College and I’m working for a socially conscious organization. Music has been pushed to the back burner, for now…but I’m still finding the time to teach myself accordion.
